aboutus
We're a family-run 3-acre farm located in Rosenberg, TX. We serve Houston-area juiceries, restaurants, and home residents with freshly harvested produce delivered directly to your door.

We strive to grow food that is super healthy and delicious, including various types of vegetables and fruits, pasture-raised eggs, and herbs for medicinal teas. In our home kitchen, we also make baked goods from scratch, using farm-grown or sourced high-quality natural ingredients.

A big part of our farm is to use sustainable growing methods. We believe that truly healthy food starts with farming the right way. To us, that means zero use of pesticides, herbicides, other synthetic chemicals, and GMO seeds. Instead, we focus on building up biological life in the soil, with the philosophy of working with nature and not against it. Our goal is to farm in a way that cares for people and the earth!

HOWWestarted
What started as our family's desire to grow our own food and eat healthier, we've expanded that dream to provide healthy food for our local community. We've been serving Houston-area juiceries and restaurants since 2016, growing wheatgrass, microgreens, free-range chicken eggs, and other fresh produce. Shortly afterward, we also began doing home deliveries to families.

We practice a sustainable farming method called permaculture, and were originally inspired by the "Back to Eden" approach, which views farming as a stewardship of the earth, as seen in the book of Genesis. We have seen firsthand how these sustainable practices not only grow healthier plants and more nutritious food for us to eat, but also are better for the earth.

The biggest part of our farm growth from the beginning onward has been our faith and trust in God, who is the creator of nature and all things which grow from the earth. As we care for the farm, we continue to be fascinated by the many ways God nurtures us, in our bodily health as well as spiritual health. In remembrance of our roots, the name "Sweet Dew Farm" is inspired by the following Biblical verse:

"Let my teaching fall like rain
and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants."
Deuteronomy 32:2
How We Grow

CompostSOIl
Eco-friendly and rich in nutrients, our soil is produced right on our farm, going through a multi-layered process until its ready to use. Our soil provides life to everything we grow, from our greenhouse-grown microgreens to our fruit trees.

We partner with local Houston juiceries, coffee shops, and restaurants to convert organic material: juice pulp, coffee grounds, bean pulp, and leftover foods; into high-quality compost. It's then processed naturally over several weeks and then heat-treated, producing deep black and rich compost soil--- a zero-waste approach, while creating a valuable resource!

notill
farming
We believe the conventional farming practice of tilling the ground does not improve the quality of food grown. That is because radically disturbing the soil destroys the biological life in the soil. Often, these systems rely on pesticides and synthetic fertilizers to make up for the soil's nutrient deficiency.

Instead, we strive to preserve life in the soil, including earthworms, beneficial fungi, and other micro-organisms, which naturally build up soil fertility. We do this by practicing no-till farming, and heavily covering with mulch, which serves as a protective layer for the soil. Healthier soils produce healthier plants, which are more immune to pests. For this reason, we believe that healthy soils are the best form of pest control. We grow all our produce without the use of any pesticides, herbicides, or other synthetic chemicals.

Vertical
Farming
We grow our finer produce in our climate-controlled year-round greenhouse. Growing vertically allows us to save valuable space and grow more abundantly. With 7 layers of shelves, this means we're able to grow 7 times more efficiently in just a few square feet.
Though grown indoors, we still utilize natural sunlight and outdoor air. And though we use a hydroponic-type setup, we grow our greens with our soil, believing this produces healthier vegetables. We've found that this approach produces fuller leafy greens, rather than greens with long lanky stems as seen with artificial lighting systems.

Pasture-raised
Chickens
Our chickens are fed a diversity of foods, including a probiotic-rich protein feed, sprouted seeds, leafy greens, foraged bugs, and organic juice/milk pulps sourced from local food businesses, including pineapple, other fruit, almond, and bean pulps. This diverse diet produces nutrient-rich eggs with deeper-colored and creamier yolks.

Along with chickens, we raise ducks and quails in our pasture-raised systems, where all our birds have abundant space to forage outside all day long. Along with having open outdoor space, they also enjoy roaming under our fruit tree orchards. Chickens, originally being forest-dwelling birds, enjoy our shaded tree cover and the additional foraging niches.

naturalpond
At the heart of our farm is our natural pond, which is naturally treated by our water-circulating pumps, aerators, and biological filtering system consisting of various aquatic plants. The pond is home to fish, which contributes to the life of the pond's mini ecosystem.

Utilizing methods of aquaponics and natural pool systems, our pond serves various functions, including nutrient-rich irrigation for our garden produce, growing healthy water-loving vegetables, and attracting beneficial garden life such as dragonflies, turtles, and frogs, which serve as natural pest control.

perennial Vegetables
Most vegetables found in grocery stores are annual vegetables, which are plant varieties grown for only one season before being uprooted and harvested. Perennial vegetables, on the other hand, are able to grow for several seasons or indefinitely through multiple harvests.

Because perennial plants live much longer, they are able to develop more widespread and deeper roots. These deeper roots are able to absorb more nutrients from the soil, which in turn produces more nutritious vegetables to eat. For this reason, we strive to grow as many perennial vegetables varieties as possible, many of which are widely unknown, however are often more healthy and delicious.

permaculturefruit orchard
One principle of permaculture farming is that fruit tree guilds are a crucial element to a successfully designed farm system. These guilds are a collection of companion plants, such as different types of herbs, bushes, vines, ground cover plants, as well as animal interactions, which all function together to support the fruit trees. This creates a "food forest", in which fruits as well as healing herbs and vegetables can grow intermingled with each other.

We strive to grow with a greater diversity of plant life that helps build the life of the soil underneath, which produces healthier and more delicious fruits. When grown in superior soil, we believe that fruits are able to provide for most of our body's nutritional needs.

healingherbs
Another crucial part of our farm is the integration of various medicinal herbs with our garden plants. The fragrance of herbs deter insect pests, as well as attract beneficial insects, such as ladybugs and wasps, which feed on garden pests.

Many herbs also have healing properties that are good for the human body, such as being a remedy for colds, boosting the immune system, promoting heart health, and many more health benefits. Medicinal herbs are excellent for teas. We naturally wind-dry or dehydrate herbal leaves and flowers. It's then stored at room temperature and sealed to retain its taste and medicinal properties.

Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb, down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, producing twelve kinds of fruits and yielding a fresh crop for each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

Revelation 22:1,2

God said, See, I have given you every herb bearing seed, throughout the earth, and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

Genesis 1:29

Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows in them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves are for healing.
